Ben got a new job! He still will be working for Edison, still as an engineer but he now will be working in the Probabilistic Risk Assessment group. This new position is more "mathy" and analytical so Ben is pretty excited. He likes his current job but was ready for something new. I'm sure he will miss his cube buddies. -Sorry to be cheesy but I can't help but boast about how lucky we are, I've never had to worry about Ben not being able to provide for our little family. Even when he was a student at Berkeley he worked during the summers at the Jamba Juice headquarters. When people asked what he did for work, he simply said he worked at Jamba Juice. Ben got some good skillz. Yet, he is humble and just grateful to be working in this economy. Now when people ask him what he does for a living he just says "I work at the boobs". That's my guy! I'm so proud of him.

In other exciting news...we are expecting a baby in June! I've felt great so far (minus the kidney stone) and everything is moving along...a little too fast if you ask me. We have chosen not to find out the sex of the baby. We like surprises. For Christmas we got paper audio record cards for our parents and we put this ultrasound picture in the front and Ben using a very high voice recorded something like: "Hi grandma, hi grandpa I'm stuck in here but I can't wait to come out and meet you guys, see you in June." Christmas was also the day we told our extended family I was pregnant, my 95 year old grandma cried. It was a very sweet day.
We are also hoping to buy our first home! Everything is also moving along in this department, although we are not sure if it will happen by June. We are very much do-things-in-order type of people. In my personal journal my ideal time line looked something like this (I wrote it around the time we got engaged, Ben agreed to it. I was 22 or 23 so don't judge): Get married in the fall, wait to have kids for at least 3 years, finish grad school, learn to play the accordion, become DINKS, travel to Europe, buy our first place, have a baby. I have to say with the exception of learning how to play the accordion, by the end of the year everything in this list might be checked off.
Things don't always work out as planned and in this case we are doing things out of order, which turned out to be a huge blessing because we were able to use some of our "home" savings towards IVF which was the way our baby came into my belly. More on that later. I think it deserves it's own post.
2011 is bound to be an eventful year for us. The only thing we really care about is having a healthy baby, everything else is just a positive externality.
I'm sure if my econ teacher read this post she would have to reconsider giving me a C.

Man, I just love you guys! Can I say any more often that I am so excited for you? And you look very cute just barely starting to look pregnant. I think I saw that you're coming on Friday night, Sarah. If so, yay! Hooray for Ben and his new job. Sounds even more nerdy than before -- right up his alley, probably. :-)
Let's all hang out soon!
It's been too long since I've read your blog! I loved reading all your posts and LOVE the ultrasound picture- those are precious! And you so cute with your belly! Seriously the cutest belly ever!
